Slot width is the one specification that decides what this drum does. The slots are 3/16 in. Twister's part number is 24-0003-00-P, the narrow drum. The rest of the specification is worth having too. There are 51 slots in the drum. The drum is 304 stainless with no PTFE or Teflon coating anywhere on it. Diameter is 6 in, and Twister's own reasoning for that size is that it reduces wall crawl. Material flows through gently rather than riding up the wall and tumbling badly. The drum weighs 13.9 lbs on its own. One fitment point wants checking before anything is committed. This part fits the T2, and the T4 takes a different part number entirely.
Wet, Dry, or Trimming Fragile Flower
The wet or dry label on these drums is a trade habit rather than a specification. In practice it works differently. The standard drum, with the wider quarter inch slots, works best on quality flower whether it is wet or dry. The narrow one is what to reach for when the flower is very fragile. That is where the dry nickname came from, since dried material is the fragile case most people meet. The mechanism is simple enough. Narrower slots bring the blade closer to the surface of the flower. That takes off crow's feet and the last of the excess leaf, where the wider drum leaves a slightly looser trim. The consequence cuts both ways. On fragile or dried material the closer cut is exactly what is wanted. On dense, sturdy, well hydrated flower that same closer cut will take more than intended. A facility running both kinds of material is better served by two drums and a swap between batches than by one compromise. Swapping is a tool free job on a T2, which is the whole point of making the drums separate parts. Both drums are stainless and uncoated, so neither adds anything to the material passing through.
Key Features
3/16 in slots, not 1/8 in: Twister part 24-0003-00-P is the narrow drum at three sixteenths.
51 slots: Against the standard drum's wider quarter inch slots.
304 stainless, uncoated: No PTFE and no Teflon, so nothing transfers to the material.
Six inch diameter: Twister's reason for that size is reduced wall crawl.
Closer cut: It takes crow's feet and the last of the excess leaf.
For fragile material: Which is why the trade nickname is the dry tumbler.
Tool free swap: Drums change over between batches without taking the machine apart.
T2 fitment: This part fits the T2; the T4 takes a different part.
