What the TrolMaster Carbon-X CO2 Sensor Does
The MBS-K30 is the room sensor for the TrolMaster Carbon-X, a CO2 monitoring and emergency system run by the CDA-1 controller. It uses an NDIR cell in a self-aspirated enclosure and reads from 0 to 30,000 ppm.
Purchase directly from Growers HouseWhat the TrolMaster Carbon-X CO2 Sensor Does
The MBS-K30 is the room sensor for the TrolMaster Carbon-X, a CO2 monitoring and emergency system run by the CDA-1 controller. It uses an NDIR cell in a self-aspirated enclosure and reads from 0 to 30,000 ppm. That wide range lets the system keep measuring well past the levels where enrichment stops and a hazard begins. Accuracy is plus or minus 300 ppm plus 3 percent of the reading, and the sensing cell is rated for more than 15 years. A built-in LCD shows the current ppm on the wall. Each zone or room on the Carbon-X takes one or two sensors, depending on local code. One sensor covers up to 2,000 sq ft. The sensor runs on 14 V DC at 0.04 A, and it needs an SPH-1 splitter hub for supplemental power. The box holds the sensor, a 16 ft RJ12 cable and an RJ12 T-splitter. It is rated for 32 to 122 °F at humidity of 90 percent or less. The package measures 275 by 164 by 62 mm and weighs 1.28 lb. It carries CE and ETL marks and the distributor part number TRCMBSK30.
Placing a CO2 Gas Detection Sensor Where It Counts
CO2 gas detection belongs low in the room because the gas is heavier than air and pools near the floor. Mount the sensor 12 to 18 in above floor level, the height TrolMaster specifies. Keep it away from the regulator, burner and any fan that would blow fresh air across it. Pick a wall where staff can read the display before walking in. Large rooms and rooms with tall racking often need a second sensor to cover dead corners. Check local code before settling on one sensor or two per zone. Run the RJ12 cable through the SPH-1 so the sensor has its supplemental power. Pair it with an alarm station so a high reading is seen and heard outside the room. Set the alarm threshold well below the level that affects people, and keep enrichment targets far under it. Keep the housing dry and wipe dust from the vents so air can reach the cell. This sensor serves the Carbon-X platform and is not a replacement for the CO2 sensor on other TrolMaster climate controllers.
