This is a one-tray propagation light: an 18 in T5 high-output tube, a nano-tech reflector and an integrated electronic ballast in a single bar. It sits on top of a Super Sprouter light track dome, so the light stays centered over the cells and you never need a hanger. The fixture draws just 17W at 120V, 50/60 Hz. Its 6400K tube puts out a cool daylight spectrum, the vegetative end that keeps seedlings stocky and cuttings from stretching. Coverage is rated at roughly 2 x 1 ft, which is a single standard seed tray. It ships in a blister pack and weighs about 1 lb with the lamp in place. In the box are the lamp, a power cord, a jumper cord, and both hanging and flat-surface clips. On a dome, the lamp ends up only a few inches from the cells, which is where low-wattage T5 light works best. Crack the dome vents as roots form, and the light can stay in place while humidity comes down. Lift it off for watering, then set it back on the tracks.
Where an 18 Inch T5 Grow Light Fits Best
Small batches are the point: a tray of tomato starts, a round of clones from one mother, or herbs on a kitchen counter. An 18 inch t5 grow light also fits a narrow shelf where a 2 ft or 4 ft bar would hang past the ends. Several of them can run side by side on a bench, daisy-chained with the jumper cords so one outlet and one timer handle the row. Without a dome, the clips let you hang it from a shelf or mount it flat underneath. The nano-tech reflector bounces the tube's upward light back toward the tray, so less of that small wattage is lost. Scale is the real trade-off here. At this wattage it lights one tray well and nothing more, so it is not a light for a rack of flats. It is also not meant for flowering plants or anything past early veg. Once seedlings outgrow the dome, move them under a larger fixture and keep this one for the next round. For a grower who starts a tray at a time, that small footprint is exactly the appeal.
Key Features
Fits Light Track Domes: The bar rides on Super Sprouter light track domes, holding the tube close and centered over the cells.
17W T5 HO Tube: Low draw for a single tray, with a cool 6400K spectrum that keeps starts compact.
Nano-Tech Reflector: The reflective hood sends upward light back down, so more of the output reaches the tray.
Integrated Electronic Ballast: Plugs straight into the wall with nothing extra to mount or wire.
Links Up to 8 Units: Jumper cords let a row of these share one outlet and one timer on a bench.
Hanging or Flat Clips: Without a dome, mount it under a shelf or hang it over a tray.
