Super Sprouter Clear Cut Tray Insert w/ Holes | Lift to Check Roots

What the Clear Cut Insert Tray Does Inside a 1020 Flat Super Sprouter build the Clear Cut family as three separate parts, and this is the middle one. There is a no-holes base tray, part 726448, a perforated clear insert, part 726444, and a seven inch vented dome, part 726442. What arrives here is one insert on its own, half a pound of ultra-clear plastic. The bottom is perforated, so irrigation passes straight through and collects in the tray underneath. The base is a standard 1020 nursery flat with no drainage holes, which is the footprint every propagation bench in the trade already uses. That matters more than it sounds. The insert does not depend on the matching Super Sprouter base to do its job. Any no-holes 1020 tray will hold it and catch the runoff. The clear plastic is the whole point of the thing. Light reaches the plugs from the side as well as from above, and more usefully, you can see through the bottom. The 1020 footprint is the number to plan around. It is what decides whether the insert fits the trays and the benches already in the room. The dome locks to the tray at four corners and not to the insert. That means the insert slides in and out with the dome still fastened. Grodan A-OK Starter Plugs and the Reason It Is Transparent The insert is built around two stonewool plugs, the 1.5 in A-OK, part 713025, and the 2 in A-OK, part 713030. A full sheet of the 1.5 in plugs holds ninety eight of them. Stonewool suits the design, because a wet plug reads clearly through clear plastic. Here is what a grower actually looks at through the bottom. First comes the white radicle pushing out of the base of a plug, which tells you the cutting or the seed has taken. Second, and far less obvious, whether the plugs are standing in water. A tray that has not drained is among the most common causes of damping off in young plants. In an opaque insert it stays invisible until the damage is done. Lifting the whole insert out answers both questions in about three seconds, and no seedling gets touched at all. Rinse it between runs and it goes back in for the next cycle. A seven inch vented dome over the top finishes the setup, and the insert comes out from under it without unlocking anything. Key Features Perforated clear bottom: Irrigation drains straight through into the no-holes tray underneath. Lift out to inspect: Roots and standing water are both visible without touching a start. Ultra-clear plastic: Light reaches the plugs from above and from the sides as well. Built around A-OK plugs: The 1.5 in and the 2 in stonewool plugs. Standard 1020 footprint: It sits in any ten by twenty nursery flat with no holes. Sold as a single insert: One tray rather than the case of thirty five the trade takes. Reusable between runs: Rinse it down and it goes back under the dome again. Independent of the dome: Corner locks join the dome to the tray, so this slides free.
