Super Sprouter 72 Cell Square Plug Tray Insert | 10 x 20 Flat

Why a 72 Cell Square Plug Tray Beats a Round One Here Square openings hold square media, and that is the whole distinction in this range. The insert measures 20.9 x 10.2 x 2.1 in and weighs about 0.3 lbs, dropping into a standard flat with no play at the edges. Super Sprouter builds it heavier than the usual insert. That shows up the first time you lift a full tray one-handed and the middle does not sag. Square cells also pack edge to edge, so 72 sites fit in the same footprint a round-hole insert uses for fewer. Root pruning at the corners is a real side effect of square cells. On a slow crop that can mean circling roots at the base. For round plugs, take the round-hole version of this tray instead. Loading a 10 x 20 Plug Insert Without Fighting the Flat A 10 x 20 plug insert only works if the flat under it is flat. Thin vacuum-formed trays often are not, once they have been stacked wet. Sit the insert in, press the corners down, and check that the base contacts the tray rather than bridging on a warped rim. From there the routine is ordinary: fill, sow or stick, water from below so the media wicks rather than washes out. Cells this size dry from the outside rows inward, so the perimeter needs a look before the middle does. Case quantities run to a hundred inserts, which is propagation-house scale rather than hobby scale. A single insert is the sensible unit for a bench. Key Features Square cell openings: Holds square plugs and mini blocks without the gap a round hole leaves. 72 sites per insert: Square cells pack edge to edge, so more sites fit the same 10 x 20 footprint. Heavier than standard inserts: The middle does not sag when a loaded tray gets lifted by one hand. 20.9 x 10.2 x 2.1 in: Drops into a standard propagation flat with no play at the edges. About 0.3 lbs empty: Light enough to handle in stacks, stiff enough to hold shape when wet.
