What Makes This an Instant Compost Tea A traditional brew starts with a bag of compost, a bucket, and a strainer you clean afterwards. Most of the material never leaves the bag. Micronizing changes the whole shape of that job. Everything is ground fine enough to go straight into suspension, so the solids are in the water rather than sitting in a mesh sack. Nothing is left to strain and nothing is thrown away. What goes in is 28% humus, 17% kelp, 13% worm castings and 12% composted turkey manure, with the balance in other materials. It feeds the microbial communities already living in the medium and on the leaf, rather than feeding the plant directly. At 8 oz this is the size you take to find out whether it earns a place in the programme. Brewing It as an Aerated Compost Tea There are two ways in and the rates differ. Straight into dechlorinated water it goes at a quarter to two teaspoons per gallon and can feed the same day. Brewed it goes heavier, one to two tablespoons per gallon, with an equal measure of molasses if you use one. Aerate that for one to three days. Warm water finishes sooner than cold, so the window moves with the room. The finished concentrate then dilutes 1:30 to 1:50 for a drench or a spray. Eight ounces makes roughly 22 gallons of that concentrate, or about 264 gallons fed direct at the lightest rate. Dechlorinate the water either way.
