What the TrolMaster OA6-24 Board Actually Switches
Six outputs, six timers, one RJ12 cable back to the controller. That is the shape of this board, and it is why zoning stops being a wiring problem.
Purchase directly from Growers HouseWhat the TrolMaster OA6-24 Board Actually Switches
Six outputs, six timers, one RJ12 cable back to the controller. That is the shape of this board, and it is why zoning stops being a wiring problem. Each output carries its own indicator, so a valve that is not opening gets traced at the board before anyone walks the room. An addressing button sets the board's identity on the bus, which is what makes chaining several of them work. Input is 110 to 240 VAC drawing at most 0.42 A, and the board ships with a 16 ft RJ12 cable. Package dimensions are 275 mm long by 164 mm wide. Five boards is the ceiling for one Aqua-X, which works out at thirty individually controlled outputs. Most rooms never reach that, but a greenhouse zoning at bench level gets there quickly. The board does not meter water and it does not read pressure. It switches, and the controller decides when. Anyone who needs pump control at line voltage wants the 110 V board instead.
Wiring Solenoid Valves, and the Current Limit That Decides It
Solenoid valves are the part that decides whether this board is enough for the job. Each output is rated at 24 VAC and 0.15 A, and that is the figure to check against the coil on your own valves. A coil that draws more than the output allows will either open unreliably or cook the channel it sits on. Two valves on one output is the mistake that turns up most often, and the arithmetic rarely supports it. Run one coil per output and add a board rather than doubling up. Common 24 V irrigation solenoids sit well inside the limit, though inrush current runs higher than holding current on most of them. Read the coil label before wiring, because the same valve body ships with different coils. Working range is 32 to 122 degrees Fahrenheit and humidity of 90 percent or below. The enclosure is not a wet location box, so it belongs on a dry wall and not in a pump pit. Runs are RJ12, which means a cable crimped on site is a fair way to avoid a long pull.
Key Features
Outputs: Six individually controlled 24 V outputs
Per output rating: 24 VAC at 0.15 A, which is the valve sizing limit
Timers: Each output holds its own schedule
Indicators: One LED per output, plus a power indicator
Chaining: Two RJ12 sockets, and an addressing button to set identity
Maximum chain: Five boards on one Aqua-X, giving thirty outputs
Input: 110 to 240 VAC, 0.42 A maximum
In the box: One board and one 16 ft RJ12 cable
Environment: 32 to 122 degrees Fahrenheit, humidity 90 percent or less
Not this board: Line voltage pump control takes the 110 V version
