Matching a 1 Inch Disc Filter to Your Flow
Flow is the first check and the one people skip. This body runs 5 to 26 GPM. Below five the discs will not compress properly against the flow. Above twenty-six you are past what the body is built for and pressure loss climbs fast.

Flow is the first check and the one people skip. This body runs 5 to 26 GPM. Below five the discs will not compress properly against the flow. Above twenty-six you are past what the body is built for and pressure loss climbs fast. Ports are 1 in MPT on inlet and outlet. The unit measures 6 x 9 x 5 in and weighs 2.5 lbs.
What a 120 Mesh Filter Actually Screens, in Microns
Mesh is a count, not a size, which is why comparing it against an emitter spec in microns is guesswork unless you convert. The stacks are colour coded with the equivalent. A 120 mesh filter uses the red discs and screens to roughly 130 micron. Step finer and 140 mesh is black at about 115 micron. Step coarser and 80 mesh is yellow at about 200 micron. Match the number to the smallest orifice downstream rather than picking the finest available. An over-fine stack clogs faster and costs pressure for filtration nobody needed. The mechanism is worth understanding. Grooved rings stack under pressure and water crosses the channels between them. Debris is trapped through the depth of the stack rather than only on a surface. That is what separates a disc from a screen, and it is why a disc holds more dirt before it needs cleaning. The body and cover are reinforced polyamide, rated to 140 psi.
Key Features
5 to 26 GPM flow range: Below the minimum the discs will not seat properly. Above it, pressure loss climbs quickly.
120 mesh, roughly 130 micron: The red disc stack. Match it against the smallest orifice downstream, not the finest available.
1 in MPT inlet and outlet: Male pipe thread on both ports, so it lands in standard irrigation fittings.
Depth filtration, not surface: Grooved rings trap debris through the whole stack, so it holds more dirt between cleanings.
Reinforced polyamide body: Rated to 140 psi working pressure, cover and body alike.
6 x 9 x 5 in, 2.5 lbs: Small and light enough to service in place without dismantling the run.
