Grower's Edge Thrips and Leafminer Sticky Trap, Blue 5 Pack

Grower's Edge Thrips and Leafminer Sticky Trap, Blue With a Grid Each pack holds 5 blue traps, each one a folded card that peels apart and reverse-folds so the sticky side faces out. A 1 in grid is printed across the face for counting. The blue draws thrips and leafminers first. The label adds gnats, fruit flies, leafhoppers and froghoppers to the list of what ends up stuck. Every trap comes punched and supplied with a twist tie for a branch or stake. Grower's Edge calls the card non-poisonous, weatherproof and good for the whole season. The directions place one trap every 6 to 7 ft, or one at the end of each row. Hang them at plant level rather than up near the lights. For a badly infested plant, the label suggests shaking it gently so the adults lift and land on the nearest trap. Replace a card once it is completely coated with insects or dust. Reading Thrip Sticky Traps Across a Season Thrips fly low and short, and they leave silver scarring and black specks on leaves long before most growers spot an adult. A card hung at the level they actually travel catches them earlier than any leaf inspection. Leafminer adults behave the same way, and the card picks them up before the first tunnels open in new leaves. Count the grid squares each week and keep the numbers in one place. Rising counts after a treatment mean the program needs another look. The shake test is worth using on a suspect plant. A cloud lifting off one plant and landing on the card tells you where the pressure is coming from. Dusty rooms shorten the card's working life, because dust dulls the glue well before the face fills with insects. Keep the sticky face clear of leaves, since foliage that touches it tears when it pulls away. A single pack covers a small greenhouse or a few rows of a garden.
