Grodan PRO A-OK Starter Plugs 2 in Unwrapped (30 Sheets. 1,500 Cubes)

What the 50/40 on Grodan A-OK Starter Plugs Means Those two numbers are the plug, in millimetres. 50 x 50 x 40 mm, which is 2 x 2 x 1.6 in. Worth reading carefully, because the depth is 1.6 in and not 2 in. The footprint is what the size refers to. Sheets come 50 plugs each, and a full case is 30 sheets for 1,500 cubes. Unwrapped means no plastic sleeve around the sheet, so the whole sheet drains as one and the cost per plug drops. Choosing 2 in Rockwool Plugs Over the 1.5 in Size The choice is really about seed size and how long the plug has to hold. A 2 in rockwool plug carries more water and more root volume than the 36/40. That suits peppers, tomatoes, squash and any cutting you plan to leave in propagation a while. The 1.5 in sheet fits 98 plugs into the same flat and is the denser, faster-turning option. Both drop into a 10 x 20 tray. The plugs sit separated on the sheet rather than joined together. Roots stay out of each other, so transplanting is a lift rather than a tear. Each carries a pre-formed hole, the K820 on this size, sized for a seed or a cutting stem. When the plug is ready it steps up into a Grodan block or straight into a net pot. Key Features Case of 30 sheets, 1,500 plugs total: Fifty plugs per sheet in the 50/40 size, sold as a full unwrapped case. Plug measures 2 x 2 x 1.6 in: That is 50 x 50 x 40 mm. The 2 in is the footprint, not the depth. Pre-formed K820 hole: Sized for a seed or a cutting stem, so nothing has to be bored by hand. Separated plugs on the sheet: Roots stay in their own plug instead of knitting across, which makes transplanting clean. Fits a standard 10 x 20 flat: One sheet per flat, and the plug steps up into a Grodan block or a net pot. Unwrapped sheets: No plastic sleeve, so the sheet drains as one unit and the per-plug cost comes down.
