FoxFarm Happy Frog All-Purpose Fertilizer 6-4-5 – 4 lbs

What Happy Frog All-Purpose Actually Reads The analysis on the current bag reads 6-4-5. That is worth stating plainly, because the older version of this product was 5-5-5. If you are working from an old feeding note, the numbers have moved. Nitrogen now leads, phosphorus sits lowest and potassium is in between, which is a shape that suits general garden feeding rather than one specific crop. Mycorrhizal fungi are included in the blend, and FoxFarm describes them as increasing root efficiency, which may in turn improve nutrient and water uptake. The bag is OMRI Listed and registered with the California Department of Food and Agriculture as an organic input material. Those two marks are what let it into a certified organic operation rather than only a home garden. Applying a Dry Organic Fertilizer by Plant Size The rate changes with what you are feeding and how big it already is. A new container planting takes two tablespoons per gallon of soil, mixed in at the start. A new in-ground planting takes half a cup per five gallons of soil mixture, plus another half cup around the base of the plant. From there, established plants are fed monthly by height. A plant one to two feet tall takes one cup. Two to three feet takes one and a half cups, three to five feet takes two cups, and anything above five feet takes three. Row plantings work on area instead, at one cup per ten square feet when new and two cups per ten square feet monthly once established. Scratch it into the top inch of soil and water it in thoroughly. A dry organic blend needs moisture and living soil to release. A bag applied to dry ground in cold weather will sit there doing nothing.
