The label reads six percent azadirachtin and ninety-four percent other ingredients. Azadirachtin is the compound in neem seed that actually does the work, and the rest of a neem oil product is mostly oil. Arborjet use a patented process to isolate it and deliver it as a powder that dissolves in water. That is the whole difference between this and a bottle of neem. Registration is EPA number 81899-4-74578 and the signal word is caution. The re-entry interval is four hours. The label allows application up to and including the day of harvest on food crops. Storage matters more than with a liquid, so keep it between twenty and a hundred degrees Fahrenheit. It is OMRI Listed for organic production.
Why an Azadirachtin Powder Beats Neem Oil
Oil is the problem neem has always carried. It coats leaves, it can burn them under a light, it clogs nozzles and it separates in the tank. Take the oil out and those four problems go with it. A water soluble powder also moves into the plant rather than sitting on it. A soil drench therefore reaches pests that a foliar spray never touches. Application routes on the label include foliar spray, soil drench, soil-less media drench, fogging, chemigation and trunk injection. The mode of action is not a knockdown. Azadirachtin works as an anti-feedant, disrupts moulting and stops egg laying, so populations collapse over days rather than minutes. Judge it after a week, not after an hour. The honest limit follows from that: a heavy established infestation wants something faster alongside it, and this holds the ground afterwards.
