Active Aqua Replacement Impeller for AAPW250 250 GPH Pump

When an Active Aqua Replacement Impeller Is the Right Fix A pump that hums but barely moves water is almost never a dead motor. On a magnetic drive pump like the 250 GPH AAPW250, the impeller is a ceramic-shafted magnet spinning inside the housing. It is the only moving part in the water. Grit scores the shaft, roots and biofilm wrap the blades, and flow drops off long before the pump actually stops. Swapping the impeller takes the intake cover off, the old one out, the new one in, and nothing else. At a couple of dollars it is the first thing to try before replacing a whole pump. If the new impeller still will not spin freely, the housing bore is worn and the pump itself is finished. Keeping a Spare AAPW250 Pump Impeller on Hand A spare aapw250 pump impeller belongs in the same drawer as spare airline and a check valve. A failed circulation pump in a warm room becomes a problem within hours. Rinse the impeller and the housing whenever a reservoir gets changed. Run a vinegar soak on both if the water is hard enough to leave scale. Never run the pump dry, even briefly, since the shaft relies on water for both cooling and lubrication. Check that the magnet turns by hand before refitting the cover. This part fits the AAPW250 specifically, so verify the pump model before matching it.
