Why the 75 Gal Reservoir Lid Drops Inside the Tank Rim
The measurement catches people out, so take it first. This panel is 43.5 x 43.5 in and 2 in deep, weighing 3.3 lb, while the tank it covers measures close to 46.75 in across the mouth.
Purchase directly from Growers HouseWhy the 75 Gal Reservoir Lid Drops Inside the Tank Rim
The measurement catches people out, so take it first. This panel is 43.5 x 43.5 in and 2 in deep, weighing 3.3 lb, while the tank it covers measures close to 46.75 in across the mouth. The lid is deliberately smaller, because it drops down inside the rim instead of capping it from above. Condensation, spray from a top-off hose and anything you slop while mixing all run back into solution rather than down the outside of the tank. The top face is slightly convex and ribbed, and that shape is doing two jobs. The ribs stiffen a large flat panel that would otherwise oil-can under a hand, and the curve pushes standing water out to the edge. Material is high-impact ABS, UV resistant for longevity. That matters on a lid more than on the tank, since the lid is the part sitting in direct light all day. The matching reservoir is commonly supplied with a cover. Treat this one as the spare or the replacement rather than a missing piece.
Drilling a Hydroponic Reservoir Cover for Probes, Cords and Light
Blocking light is most of what this panel is for. An open tank in a lit room grows surface algae within a couple of weeks. That becomes biofilm on every pump and probe you own. Moulded multi-drill access points let meters, probe leads and pump cords pass through at marked positions instead of wherever a hole saw happens to land. Lay the whole run out before cutting anything, because every unused hole is a light leak you cannot undo. One saw cut per cable is the discipline that keeps the lid working as a barrier. The hinged port cover is a separate part here. A lid on its own gives you drill points, not a lift-up hatch. Growers running an inline chiller or a recirculating pump usually cut on the side nearest the equipment and keep the far half intact for lifting. Measure your own tank mouth first. The older generation of this reservoir does not share the current mouth dimension. If your tank already has a lid that seats properly, there is no reason to take this at all. It earns its place on a tank that lost its cover. A second lid also saves carrying one across a room.
Key Features
43.5 in square panel: Sized to drop inside the tank rim rather than cap it on top.
2 in deep, 3.3 lb: Light enough to lift one handed off a full reservoir.
Convex and ribbed top: The ribs stop a wide panel flexing and the curve sheds standing water.
Drains back inward: Spill and condensation return to solution instead of the floor.
Multi-drill access points: Marked positions for meters, probe leads and pump cords.
High-impact ABS: UV resistant, which matters under lights.
Light barrier: A covered tank keeps surface algae and the biofilm that follows out.
Port cover separate: This is the panel, not the hinged hatch that fits it.
