Active Air 6 x 24 in Inline Carbon Filter. 500 CFM, 1 in Carbon Bed

How the Active Air Inline Carbon Filter Frees Up Tent Space The body is a sealed cylinder with a 6 in collar at each end, nominally 6 x 24 in. Air passes through the carbon inside rather than through a mesh on the outside. That is what lets it sit mid-duct. Flow is rated at 500 CFM, which pairs with a 6 in fan running in its normal band rather than flat out. Carbon sits 1 in deep and the air crosses it twice, once entering the body and once leaving. Both ends accept intake, so there is no right way round when the ducting is already cut. The whole thing weighs 16.5 lb dry and ships in a 12.7 x 12.8 x 28.2 in carton. Part number is ACCIF246 and the barcode on the sleeve reads 638104020794. Nothing about the housing is porous, which is why it can live in a closet, an attic knee wall or a service corridor. A tent that was giving up its top corner to a hanging filter gets that volume back. In a 4 x 4 with a 6 in fan, that corner is usually the difference between two feet of headroom and none. Why Carbon Bed Depth Decides the Service Interval Adsorption is a contact-time problem, not a surface-area problem. Air has to dwell in the carbon long enough for the odor molecules to stick, and bed thickness is what gives that dwell. Running a fan near the top of its range pushes air through faster and shortens the contact window. That shows up as odor breakthrough long before the carbon is actually spent. Throttle the fan to what the room needs and the same body lasts noticeably longer. Carbon also takes on water, and a saturated bed adsorbs less. Keeping it out of a damp basement corner and out of direct lights-out condensation is worth more than any maintenance routine. Most growers get six to twelve months out of a body on a normal photoperiod before odor starts to carry. The honest limit is access, because a mid-duct body is harder to reach than one hanging in the open. Leave a union or a short flex length at one collar. Replace the body rather than trying to wash it. Rinsing packed carbon channels the bed and the filter never performs the same afterwards. Key Features Mid-duct mounting: Sits anywhere along the run, so the grow space keeps the volume a hanging body would take. 500 CFM rating: Matches a 6 in fan working inside its normal band instead of at full tilt. Two-stage path: Air crosses the carbon entering and again leaving, which doubles contact per pass. Bidirectional collars: Either end takes intake, so ducting that is already cut still fits. Sealed exterior: No mesh on the outside means it can live in a closet, attic or corridor.
